|Group Visits (10 or more persons) Group Booking Form
Vintage Carriages Trust's Museum of Rail Travel welcomes Group Visits - both for adults and for children (including School Parties). Return to the home page for details of how to find us, how to contact us, and our normal admission hours - but please note that special opening outside these hours is usually possible: please ask!
We ask for all visits to be pre-booked (with the actual payment being made on the day) - you may print out and fax or post to us our Group Booking Form: we will then contact you to confirm your booking.
How long to stay? This depends very much on the nature of your party - but we would suggest that you should allow at least 45 minutes for your visit.
How much does it cost? Our Group admission charges are £1 for Children and Concessions, £1-50 for adults. There is NO CHARGE for adults supervising groups of children (including school parties).
May I visit you beforehand, to help prepare for our visit? Of course - no charge! Please let us know, preferably in advance. We would recommend a preliminary visit, especially to Teachers and others before bringing a School or other party of children, which will allow us to show you how we can help with the educational content of your visit. We have a selection of worksheets on our Education pages
What catering do you offer - can we bring our own picnics? We regret that the Museum has no catering facility. However, a hot drinks machine, soft drinks, ice cream, and confectionery are available in the Shop. Picnics may be taken outside, where there is limited seating available, or if the weather is inclement in the Museum (very limited seating).
Toilets? Yes. Including accessible.
Shop? Yes. We've already mentioned confectionery, ice cream, tea, coffee and soft drinks. There's also a range of small souvenirs relating to railways in general and to our Museum in particular.
Of interest to the real railway enthusiasts in your Party is our main area of business - a very wide range of back-number railway-interest magazines, pre-owned railway books and videos of every description, and railway "hardware" of every description (bridge number plates, builders plates, lamps, signal finials, pay checks, paperwork, etc..). For further information here go back to the home page and then look for " Shop Sales".
Car and coach parking? Is it far to walk? There's plenty of parking in Ingrow Yard, including close to our Museum, which is at the far end of the Yard. Large coaches should park to the right immediately on arrival, just before Ingrow Railway Station. It's then a 200 yard level walk to the Museum. Minibuses can drive to our door - there's sufficient space to turn easily. (Large coaches cannot turn here).
Facilities for our coach driver? Coach drivers are welcome to make use of our Staff Mess Room, including free use of tea and coffee facilities.
Special Need facilities? Level access, wheelchair lift to central viewing walkway. Information leaflet in Braille. Accessible toilet. Information panels at heights appropriate for wheelchair users.
What else can we visit that's nearby? The Worth Valley Railway is adjacent - see their website for details of operating days etc. The Ingrow Loco Museum (owned by the Bahamas Locomotive Society) is also open when Worth Valley railway trains are operating. Other local attractions include: the Bronte Parsonage at Haworth: Cliffe Castle Museum at Keighley: East Riddlesden Hall, also at Keighley, and Keighley Bus Museum .
Further information is available from Haworth Tourist Information Centre 01535 642329.
Why not combine your visit to the Museum of Rail Travel with a trip on the Worth Valley Railway?
Suggested Itinerary: Arrive at Ingrow and visit Museum of Rail Travel (minimum 45 minutes). Then visit Ingrow Loco (minimum 30 minutes). Board train and take a full line trip ending back at Ingrow. There is ample room to park a coach at Ingrow..
Or, if your time is limited: visit the Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow. Then visit Ingrow Loco. Take the train on an uphill journey to Oxenhope and arrange for your coach to meet your group on arrival there. There is ample coach parking at Oxenhope.
